Issues Treated

Creativity used in therapy is transformative.

Renovarte Counseling PLLC uses various client-centered interventions and other effective treatments in healing depending on each individual client's needs.

Intimate Partner Violence

An abusive behavior in any relationship can be used by one partner to gain or maintain control over another. It comes in many forms including physical, sexual, emotional, economic, and psychological abuse. My goal is to help those who have experienced domestic violence recognize abusive patterns and break the cycle of abuse.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a growing epidemic. I offer services for victims, batterers, victims, children. Red flags may include jealousy, controlling behavior, hypersensitivity, cruelty to animals or children, verbal abuse, rigid sex roles, mood swings, and threats. Contact me right away if you’re caught in any such scenario. I can help.

Anxiety

Anxiety is deeper than just worry. Sometimes it’s a nagging voice stopping you in your tracks, and sometimes it’s overwhelming panic attacks. If social situations frighten you, if you engage in repetitive thinking and behaviors, I can help you learn the tools and techniques for a more relaxed lifestyle and lasting recovery.

Self Esteem Issues

How you see yourself plays a pivotal role in how you interact with the world and others. If you feel at odds or disconnected with your inner self you could feel overwhelmed and distressed. I can help you rewrite your inner narrative so that you can feel empowered to live the life you deserve without self-imposed limitations.

Depression

Do you feel stuck in chronic stress, and irritable or unmotivated? Maybe you lead a high stress life in your career, or as a parent. Many times people feel like they are trying everything that they know how to try, and aren’t making progress. If you are here, you might not be able to do it alone. Fortunately, you don’t have to.

Emotional Disturbances

Emotionally disturbed individuals have an ability to interact with others in healthy ways, often characterized differently with each individual. If you’re experiencing an inability to build and maintain relationships, displaying inappropriate behaviors, exhibiting unsteady moods, or treatment can help.

Stress Management

If you’re struggling with managing various kinds of physical stress, I can help you learn ways to better cope with your condition and reduce the impact of stress on your daily life. We’ll learn stress management techniques and relaxation tools, so that you can live a more productive life without sabotaging behaviors and thoughts.

PTSD & Complex Trauma

This occurs after a traumatic or dangerous event. PTSD can develop when you directly experience an event, or even when you learn that a friend or family member lived through trauma. I use several intervention methods including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help you heal.

Life Transition

Life Transitions such as loss of employment, grief, divorce, illness or a new job can be sad and stressful times. I provide individuals and couples with the tools to effectively navigate these transitions. I can help you resume your life and successfully understand how your transition is impacting you, and use this to ensure healthier future opportunities.

Trauma

trauma is the sustained response to a distressing or disturbing event, circumstance, or ongoing environment. Such events and environments overwhelm us and extend beyond our abilities to cope. I can help individuals learn techniques and tools, so that you can live a more productive life without sabotaging behaviors and thoughts.

“Art can permeate the very deepest part of us, where no words can exist.”

-Eileen Miller

I use the following interventions for healing:

The effects of psychological trauma and distress can take many forms, and life is often never the same. Diagnosing them is the first step to restoring peace and healing in your life by repairing the way trauma is stored in your brain.

Emotional distress can occur after experiencing or witnessing a single terrifying event like the death of a loved one, or an act of violence. It can also occur after chronic or repeated experiences of psychological, emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Regardless of the nature or frequency of the incident(s), when upsetting things happen to us they can get “stuck” in our minds and we can re-experience them through our daily beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and body sensations.

Specialty EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR

(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR has been around for a number of years. It involves alternating sweeping movements, each lasting no more than a minute, wherein you’ll be invited to express spontaneously whatever comes to the forefront of your consciousness: images, sounds, words, movements, physical sensations. As the cerebral sweeping accelerates, often unexpected associations of ideas and feelings about certain dramatic events, some of no importance, and some of great importance, will come to mind.

The process is similar to the defragmentation of a hard disk inside one’s emotional memory, and then reassembling your library of memories, both conscious and unconscious. The process provides a sensation of tranquility. We’re not throwing out important memories, instead, reorganizing them in a useful way.

Integral Breath Therapy

(Level One)

Integral Breath Therapy refers to the use of breathing techniques in clearing physical, mental and emotional stress. Through childhood, we learn to suppress our emotions by holding tension and restricting breath. As time passes, this becomes automatic and chronic, restricting our range of expression. We even lose the ability to experience positive feelings and positive emotions such as joy and pleasure.

I can help you employ breathing techniques in order to trigger natural purifying of the body and mind, allowing for more deep relaxation and openness, as well as increased oxygen intake, which allows for natural intake and surrender to feel and safely process emotions.

Modern Art Design

Art Interventions

Art therapy is adaptable to anyone, regardless of the issues they’re facing. Creating art allows individuals to open up and step back from the work they’ve created to examine things from another perspective, revealing truth, relationship nuances, constructs, and interpretations that words don’t necessarily allow.

Art also provides a place to contain and process pain while opening new doors for expression. It’s a visual language free of inhibitions and obstacles. What’s difficult to express in words, may come more easily through art.

It’s comfort, it’s connection, it’s freedom.

I typically use art in connection with other healing modalities including EMDR, which is known to be one of the most effective therapies for trauma. EMDR allows for information processing, learning, and symptom relief.

Gestalt Therapy

Focusing on the present, and understanding what’s really happening in your life right now, rather than what you perceive to be happening based on your past experience, is the basis for Gestalt Therapy. We won’t simply talk through your past situations, instead, I will encourage you to experience them, perhaps through re-enactment, to learn how to become more aware of your own negative thought patterns surrounding the experience that may block your true self-awareness.

This is a particularly helpful method is treating issues such as anxiety, self-esteem issues, depression, relationship difficulties, and even physical symptoms like headaches and back spasms.
